Cristina Carballo

Dr. Carballo joined Century Animal Hospital in January 2020. She grew up in the capital city of the Dominican Republic, where a large portion of her family still lives today. Dr. Carballo completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University (Boston, MA) as well as her Master’s of Science Degree in Comparative Biology from the same institution in 2014. She is bilingual and frequently traveled to the Dominican Republic while living in Massachusetts in order to perform pro-bono surgeries and consults for the working equid population of the country as well as assisting in high volume spay/neuter clinics for the stray dog and cat population of the country. These accomplishments allowed her to become a Dr. Henry Foster Scholar upon graduation, which not only highlights academic excellence but also an ability to positively impact a community.

For her undergraduate studies, Dr. Carballo graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University. Here, she also learned to two-step and wear cowboy boots like the pros!

Dr. Carballo’s primary points of interest within the veterinary field include dentistry, emergencies and surgery, among others. Her professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.

Outside of work, Dr. Carballo enjoys spending time with her husband, Francois, and their three dogs, Lyka, Earl and Lionel Messi. Lyka is a saint and one of Dr. Carballo’s greatest loves, but Earl and Lionel keep her busy with mischievous behavior. She is also an avid competitor in the equine sports of Eventing and Dressage with her horse Figs, and can often be found at the barn.
