Surgical Procedures We Offer

As an AAHA accredited animal hospital, we provide a broad range of surgical services in our fully equipped surgical suite. Your pets will receive the highest standard of care from your compassionate Austin veterinarian. We’ll make sure that you know exactly what your pet needs and why – we’ll be with you every step of the way.

We offer the following surgical services at Century Animal Hospital:

  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Dental cleaning
  • Dental surgery
  • Spay and neuter
  • Board-certified surgeon available for orthopedic surgeries including but not limited to TPLO (ACL repair), FHO, and fracture repair

The above list is by no means complete – we offer a variety of surgical services to meet the many and varied needs of your pet. Our veterinary team will work with you to understand your pet’s medical needs before we make a recommendation for any procedure.

Before your pet’s surgery, your Austin veterinarian will perform a physical exam and order laboratory tests to ensure your pet is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia, as well as to ascertain that surgery is the best option. As with every service at Century Animal Hospital, we want to make sure your pet is receiving the care they need, when they need it.

Following your pet’s surgery, we’ll help you make sure you have everything you need for a smooth recovery. Our team will send home detailed instructions and will always be happy to answer any follow-up questions you have regarding your pet’s post-operative care at home.

Post-surgical aftercare can include:

  • Moderating activity levels – Activities like running and jumping are discouraged while your pet heals; we’ll help you understand what activities are safe for your pet while they’re healing.
  • Limiting food and water – Immediately following your pet’s surgery, your pet may need to avoid eating and drinking; we’ll let you know when your pet can resume their regular eating schedule.
  • Administering medication – We may send your pet home with pain killers or prescription medicine to combat infection; we’ll walk you through how and when to administer these drugs.
  • Caring for the surgical wound – It’s important to make sure that the surgical site remains clean so that it heals properly; we can equip you with items to keep your pet from licking or scratching their surgical site.

If your pet has recently had surgery and you have questions or concerns about their aftercare, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at (512) 442-9518. We’re here to help.
